S.A.F.E. EMDR

Ready to transform your trauma from being the title of your life to a mere chapter in your life?

What is EMDR?

No, it’s not a new form of Electronic Dance Music. EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. What the heck is that besides a mouthful of alphabet soup?

EMDR is a mind-body medicine therapy internationally recognized to be an effective treatment for  distressing life experiences including:

  • Money mindset blocks                                       - Racism, sexism, & discrimination
  • Self-criticism & low self-esteem                     - Bullying & Abandonment
  • Anxiety, phobias, panic attacks                       - Unwanted sexual experiences
  • PTSD, c-PTSD, and trauma                               - Chronic pain and medical issues
  • Dysfunctional family issues                              - Grief and loss (humans & pets too)

Trauma isn’t always what happened to you, it can be what DID NOT happen to you.

Perhaps you don’t define your life as “traumatic” but there are memories that you wish you never even happened. Clients I work with frequently feel that something is “off” or missing within them or in their life.  With EMDR, we can uproot the core mindset blocks that keep you stuck so you can feel fulfilled again.

How does EMDR work?

While safely processing memories, we use bilateral stimulation of the body and eyes. Yes, you move your eyes back and forth and you may tap your body like a new version of the macarena. Although this may sound strange, research suggests the EMDR eye movements mimic the REM cycle of sleep, which helps us consolidates memories, regulates mood, and deletes the spam and junk mail of your brain.

Simply put, EMDR is an effective treatment for distress backed by science.

What is S.A.F.E. EMDR?

It’s not that normal EMDR is unsafe, rather, SAFE stands for Somatic and Attachment focused EMDR. It is an integrative approach that supplements what old school EMDR lacks: holistic body and yoga exercises, nervous system resiliency, polyvagal theory, and attachment theory to amplify your healing. In English, SAFE EMDR is designed for people who have childhood wounds or relationship traumas. That can range from physical, sexual, or emotional abuse, neglect, mistreatment, and abandonment to harsh criticism, racism, family dysfunction, and toxic work environments.

Because relational pain happens between people, healing happens between people.
